Brief History of the Nordic Cultural Center
In 2014, the Nordic Cultural Center was purchased by the Swedish Historical Society of Rockford to serve as an event space and further serve the SHS and their growing community. Renovations began shortly after the building was bought and officially opened its doors on June 16th, 2017, for the annual Midsommar Festival.
This building and its property are used for the educational, cultural and community
events hosted by the Swedish Historical Society.
It contains areas of gallery display, museum staff office space, meeting spaces, visitor entry and waiting room, and a basement that stores supplies for events and activities. The space is used daily by staff and
weekly for the multitude of events hosted by the SHS.
