Calendar of Events 

Sankta Lucia Celebration & Concert
The Lucia celebration is an integral part of the Swedish Historical Society’s calendar. Children learn the traditional Swedish songs and hymns and scripture passages. This year's celebration will take place on Friday, December 5th, 2025 at 7:00 PM at First Lutheran Church. This event is free to attend, though a good will offering will be taken at the concert to help support the program and its costs. To donate to the program before the event, click here! 






Julmarknad & Swedish Pancake Breakfast 
You’re invited to join us Saturday, December 6th, 2025 from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM for a holiday themed market full of handicrafts, Swedish antiques, baked goods, and other art! We’ll also be hosting a Pancake Breakfast throughout the event, which includes Swedish pancakes, sausage links and lingonberries, with your choice of coffee or water, provided by the famous Stockholm Inn. Julmarknad will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, located at 3300 Rural St, Rockford, IL. Glögg & Pepparkakor Party
​This year’s Glögg & Pepparkakor Party will be held Wednesday, December 10th from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Nordic Cultural Center. Sip on glögg, snack on homemade Swedish delights, and shop for those last-minute Christmas presents at our miniature artisan market. Tickets are $20 for SHS members or $25 for non-members.
